• 🐘 Celebrating Mo & Kie and the completion of their Coexistence Impact Fellowship! πŸŽ‰ Since July 2024, our Research Field Officers Mo and Kie have participated in this fellowship, proudly supported by the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. Through mentoring, fieldwork, and international exchange, the program has helped them grow as conservation leaders in Thailand. For their study, they walked over 410 km across 21 villages outside Kui Buri National Park, recording 328 elephant signs to better understand how elephants move through human-dominated landscapes. Their findings will help shape future coexistence strategies, and we look forward to sharing the results in an upcoming scientific publication. A heartfelt thank you to @cincinnatizoo & Botanical Garden for investing in local conservation leadership. Congratulations, Mo and Kie β€” we are so proud of you! πŸ’š #HumanElephantCoexistence #ElephantConservation #ConservationLeadership #CoexistenceImpactFellowship #CincinnatiZoo #BringTheElephantHome #Thailand #KuiBuri
  • Do you think the health of these two elephants differs?πŸ€”πŸ˜ We need your help in strengthening the scientific foundations of elephant health monitoring and improving how we assess elephant well-being across landscapes. Using the community science platform Zooniverse, you will view photos of wild elephants in Thailand and assign body condition scores using the resources provided in the field guide. The project compares three scoring techniques through three short Zooniverse activities. After registering, you will receive the link to Part 1. After you complete each part, the next link will be sent approximately one week later. Each part of the three-part project takes about 20 minutes to complete. The project can be completed by anyone, regardless of age, education level, or experience. Every contribution helps strengthen health-monitoring protocols and supports evidence-based conservation of endangered Asian elephants.
