Help Me Fulfil My Passion for Elephant Conservation
My name is Fairuse, and I grew up in a very crowded city called Dhaka. Here, nature is just as confined as I was during my childhood. But somehow, I developed this immense love for animals which became my driving force throughout my life. Unfortunately, life took over and I could not have a degree certificate that says, ‘wildlife expert’. But a lack of formal training has never meant a lack of passion. So, I made it my mission to learn ecology, animal behaviour, all by myself, and volunteered with several organizations to gain practical experiences in the last two years.
Despite the challenges, my passion drove me to initiate my very own community-based conservation to protect Asian Elephants in Bangladesh. I have built a small team of local people who share the same vision. However, I know passion is not enough; I need hands-on training. Hence, Joining BTEH’s Elephant Research Program will allow me to learn directly from experts in the field. I plan to bring that knowledge back to Bangladesh to strengthen my project and create a more informed, lasting impact for elephant conservation.
